How StoryBriefs is funded, and how we choose what to recommend.
Affiliate links
Some links in the "Useful tools" section of a brief are affiliate links. If you sign up or buy through one, StoryBriefs may earn a commission. It costs you nothing extra, and the price you pay is the same.
When a brief contains an affiliate link, it says so above the list of tools. Affiliate links are also marked as sponsored in the page code, so search engines know what they are.
How tools are chosen
- A tool is only listed if it's genuinely useful for the video the brief describes.
- Whether a company pays a commission never decides if its tool is included or how it's described.
- Many recommended tools have no affiliate program at all, and we link to them anyway.
- No company pays to be featured, and no brief is sponsored.
Storification and Story Engine
StoryBriefs is made by the team behind Storification, the framework every brief is built on. The Story Engine app, the Storification course and book, and Cubic Films are our own products and services. When we link to them, we're recommending our own work.
Prices and rules
Cost ranges in the briefs are general estimates, not quotes. Notes on advertising and testimonial rules are a starting point, not legal advice. Check with your local regulator or a professional for your situation.
